Mediasite Mosaic in Classrooms

The Mediasite Mosaic software enables you to capture your computer's desktop or slideshow, webcam and microphone. Once a recording is made, it is automatically uploaded to Mediasite and can be accessed by creator at mediasite.osu.edu.

Mediasite Mosaic is best suited for:

  • Screen share or slide share with audio or video.
  • Shorter presentations, not a longer lecture.
  • One stationary user, not an interactive class.
  • Stable wireless connection and bandwidth for file upload.
Caution

Mediasite Mosaic is not recommended for classroom lecture recording for a number of reasons. If you opt to use the Mediasite Mosaic in a classroom, please review the following recommendations. The recommendations vary depending on the device you choose to use in the classroom.

Using Shared Classroom Computer

Presentation upload time varies depending on the recorded material and the number of jobs already in the server's transcoding queue. If you shut down the computer or log out of your session before the recording is uploaded, the upload will stop. The presentation will not be available online.

If you do have to leave the classroom before your session has uploaded, you will need to return to the same classroom computer based on classroom availability and re-upload the recording.

If you can't make it back by the end of the day, the classroom computer maintenance process will refresh; all files that had been saved there will be gone. They will not be recoverable.

Using Personal Device in the Classroom

The Classroom Services team cannot provide support for the audio and display configurations on your personal device. We recommend that you record and review a 30-second test recording before recording your class to ensure the audio and screen are being captured as expected.

Mediasite Mosaic does not work with mobile devices.
