In most cases, downloading a Word version of the Dossier or Annual Report will provide you with a copy of all the information entered in Elements and Vita. However, because Vita consists of two interrelated systems, you may need to export your data from both systems (Vita and Elements) to ensure all data has been exported.
Downloading Dossier from Vita
In Vita, you can download a Word version of your Dossier. This will allow you to make edits to your Dossier that are not possible in Elements/Vita or to keep a digital copy for future reference. Downloading the Word file should be done after all entries have been made in Vita/Elements as the Word document will not sync with future entries.
- Go to vita.osu.edu and log in using your lastname.# and university password.
- From the Navigation bar, click on Documents.
- Click on Dossier.
- Click on Request Dossier.
- Once your Dossier loads, click on Save as Word to download a copy to your desktop
Downloading Annual Report from Vita
In Vita, if you use the Extension module, you can download a Word version of your Annual Report. This will allow you make edits to your Annual Report that are not available in Elements/Vita or to keep a digital copy for future reference. Downloading the Word file should be done after all entries have been made in Vita/Elements as the Word document will not sync with future entries.
- Go to vita.osu.edu and log in using your lastname.# and university password.
- From the Navigation bar, click on Department.
- Click on Annual Report.
- Click on Request Annual Report.
- After your report has loaded, click on the Save as Word to download a copy to your desktop
Exporting data from Elements
Within Elements, you can bulk export all (or a select number) of records. This will allow you to easily review the selected records and their data fields for accuracy, or to keep as a digital copy for future reference.
- Go to vita.osu.edu and log in using your lastname.# and university password.
- From the Navigation bar, click on Elements Data.
- Select the desired area you would like to export: publications, professional activities, teaching activities or grants.
- Once in the desired area, select the Export button at the top of the screen.
- A pop-up window will appear asking you to select your preferred export type. Please note that not all areas have all the same options for export file types.

Once exported, the Excel file contains every possible field within an Elements record. Some of these fields are not visible within the edit screen of Elements and should be disregarded.
