Library Link

The Library link in the Carmen navigation bar gives students easy access to high-quality information resources and librarian assistance. It is available on the navigation bar by default in all Carmen courses.

When clicked, the Library link opens a new browser window. The content displayed by the Library link depends on whether a subject area librarian has added specific resources. If specific resources have not been set up for a course or department, a more general list of library resources appears. The course from which the link is clicked determines which page is delivered. The goal is to provide valuable information to students when they most need it as they are studying and working on course assignments.

The Carmen Library Link is the outcome of a collaborative project between the University Libraries and Learning Technology. We began offering pages in all courses in autumn 2009.

The Carmen Library Link Project is ongoing and available to OSU instructors.

UX Tip

We suggest that instructors post a news item on their course home pages to encourage students to use the Library link, especially in courses requiring library research.

Please contact your subject area librarian with questions or to request a page be customized for your course.
