Accessibility in PebblePad

Prior to developing and sharing content using PebblePad, please carefully read over the Accessibility in PebblePad guide. These guidelines provide strategies for creating accessible content and information on how to get assistance with accessibility concerns.

Any user with accessibility concerns may contact ePortfolio@osu.edu. eLearning Support staff will coordinate with a student's instructors to arrange appropriate accommodations. Students with existing relationships with Student Life Disability Services can reach out to their Access Specialist for assistance with PebblePad. The eLearning Support Team can work with the accessibility specialists to provide additional training and technical support for the tool.

User generated files and projects within PebblePad are set to private by default. These projects and files (known as Assets) can be shared by the owner to others within the PebblePad platform and with public viewers.

In addition, Assets may be shared to PebblePad’s assessment platform (Atlas) for tracking, collection of data, or other programmatic requirements. This option is only available for authorized programs who have been provided a designated assessment space.

It is important to note that some programs using Atlas may require the use of Workbooks or Templates (called Resources) that are set up to automatically submit user work to the assessment platform. This allows the user’s work to be viewable by those with administrative access to the program’s assessment space. A notification appears when a Resource will automatically be shared for assessment and requires user confirmation before sharing occurs. The ability to remove automatically shared Resources may not be possible and is dependent upon settings established by the program.

Assets may also be shared externally to public viewers through shareable URLs that make the project accessible to anyone with the link. Users can set the project to be unsearchable in search engines. In addition, users can set availability windows that limit the length of time their Assets are viewable. Instructors or programs that require students to share projects through the share URL option, should understand that the project becomes viewable to anyone with the link. Care should be taken to protect the project link and not share it outside of the course without following Ohio State’s privacy policies.

PebblePad was selected for use as an ePortfolio tool in part due to the company’s privacy policies aligning with Ohio State’s Privacy Principles.
