Students can use Mediasite to record videos and to upload and store existing recordings they have made elsewhere in Mediasite. This is a useful alternative to the Canvas Media Recorder, especially if you want students to create video assignments that are longer than two to five minutes.
Creating a Carmen assignment for which students will submit a Mediasite video involves only a few simple changes to the process you already know for creating assignments. The assignment option is already in place; you just need to direct students to use it.
You will begin on the course page:
- Select Assignments and then +Assignment.
Input the assignment information as you normally would, including the assignment title, description, and points.
In the Submission Type field select Online from the dropdown. Then check the box for File Uploads. Do not restrict the file types.

- Save and Publish the assignment to make it available to students.
