Using Q&A

Presentation owners can choose to enable a feature allowing viewers to ask questions while they watch the recorded session. Owners can then review and respond to the questions.

Since this tool is used with recorded presentations, students should expect the same time delay between asking a question and getting an answer as they would for an emailed question.

UX Tip

We suggest using the Q&A feature of Mediasite in conjunction with the Carmen Discussions tool. You can receive questions from the Q&A function in Mediasite and answer them via the Carmen Discussion tool in order to avoid sending the same answer to individual students via email. We recommend setting clear expectations that if students have a question, they should first check to see if an answer has already been posted.

Enable Q&A

  1. Access the MyMediasite Portal.
  2. Choose the appropriate presentation. The Summary page displays.

    On the Summary page, the link to the Q&A Moderation page reads Q&A Forum Disabled. Once enabled, it reads Q&A Forum Enabled. You can access the Q&A Moderation page whether or not the Q&A is enabled in your presentation.

  3. Click the Edit tab. The Edit page opens.
  4. Click the Player tab. The Player options display.
  5. Check the option to Use Q & A Forum.

  6. Click Save.

To Disable the Q&A feature, follow these instructions and uncheck the Use Q & A Forum option.
