PebblePad Assignments in CarmenCanvas

Accessibility in PebblePad

Prior to developing and sharing content using PebblePad, please carefully read over the Accessibility in PebblePad guide. These guidelines provide strategies for creating accessible content and information on how to get assistance with accessibility concerns.  

Any user with accessibility concerns may contact ePortfolio@osu.edu. Learning Systems Support staff will coordinate with a student's instructors to arrange appropriate accommodations. 

Students with existing relationships with Student Life Disability Services can reach out to their Access Specialist for assistance with PebblePad. The Learning Systems Support Team can work with the accessibility specialists to provide additional training and technical support for the tool.  

Activities in PebblePad are not directly connected to assignments in CarmenCanvas. If you want your Carmen gradebook to reflect work completed in PebblePad, have students:  

  • Share the appropriate Asset With the web and submit the resulting URL to your assignment. In the assignment description, remind students to choose Share with the web when sharing their Asset and set the permissions according to your assignment instructions.

If you want students to allow comments directly on their Asset, make sure to note that in your assignment description or prompt. Encourage students not to set an expiration date on their Asset sharing or to select an expiration date that goes beyond when you need to review the Asset.

All shared Assets are hidden from search engines by default. 

Viewing PebblePad submissions in Speedgrader 

Once a PebblePad share URL has been submitted to a CarmenCanvas Assignment, you can view the submission directly in Speedgrader. 

  1. Go to Speedgrader for that Assignment.
  1. You will see a snapshot of the project on the DocViewer (left side).
  1. To view the submission and interact with it directly in Speedgrader, click on the project link at the top. To view the project outside of Speedgrader, click on View in a new tab.

  1. Give a grade, use a Rubric, and leave comments on the Speedgrader grade panel on the right.  

If the submitted link takes you to a PebblePad sign-in page, the student has either shared the edit link for the project (the link at the top of the page when they are working on a project), or they have set an expiration date on the Asset's share URL. Have the student adjust the expiration date or verify that they are submitting the share URL. A share URL will have the word “public” in the link.
